In order for TAPHGO to contribute towards achieving its vision, Mission and overall goal, it works in three strategic areas it has been described below:
This is through coordination of local advocacy initiatives as inputs for National and global advocacy work.
TAPHGO will facilitate capacity of member organizations for lobbying and advocacy at local, regional and national levels. It will also undertake policy analysis and seek to influence national policy making practices particularly on matters related to pastoralists and hunter-gatherers.
TAPHGO, under this component will conduct awareness creation campaigns and training on Human Rights, Land Rights (land reform bill); and sensitize member organizations on utilization of community Animal-health workers. It will also strengthen its capacity and that of the member organizations to lobby for socio-economic improvements for pastoralists in areas of education, health and water.
TAPHGO will facilitate building connections, networking and learning among its member organizations in the districts, regions and nationwide.
These components, in combination, will enable TAPHGO to serve as an effective umbrella organization. Linkages will be developed among the three components to enable learning and strategic reinforcements across different levels CBOs/NGOs; Districts, Regional National and even international level.
The Policy Analysis and Advocacy department will coordinates issues related to research studies on policy issues and other emerging issues that does not work in favour of Pastoralists and Hunter-Gatherers.
Under this component, TAPHGO will facilitate strengthening of the operational capacity of leaders and staff of member organizations. TAPHGO will undertake Baseline Survey and Training Needs Assessment with member organizations. TAPHGO will also focus in the areas of good governance, business planning, and management skills. Others will include personnel, procedures, financial procedures/management; fundraising skills (proposal writing etc) and advocacy and lobbying skills. TAPHGO will identify training services providers (institutions and/or individuals) to provide training to member's organizations.
TAPHGO under component will develop human resource capacity. It will also strengthen its capacity and that of the member organizations to be able to perform its duties of lobbying and advocacy effectively. It will work also to mobilize resources for administrative activities
